In 2023, I served as a staff writer for The Historians Magazine, where I contributed thought-provoking articles that explored nuanced historical narratives and connected the past to contemporary discourse. My role involved conducting in-depth research, utilising my cultural insight into Russia and the rest of Eastern Europe and crafting accessible yet academically grounded content that engaged a broad readership. This experience honed my ability to translate complex ideas into compelling prose and deepened my appreciation for public history as a tool for education and engagement. It also helped me to become a subject specialist in areas of history outside my specialism, and practice rigorous research and fact-checking procedures to ensure absolute historicism within my work. My first article, published in Edition 9 of The Historians Magazine, was noticed by a Commissioning Editor at Pen and Sword Publishing and led to a publishing contract that has actualised my debut work - Saint Olga of Kyiv: The Viking Queen.
Collaborating with a dynamic editorial team, maintaining a strong commitment to historical accuracy and storytelling, and diversifying my writing portfolio, The Historians Magazine allowed me to become the writer I am today.

In Edition 14 of The Historians Magazine, I authored a feature article titled "The Evolution of Ferrari F1 Racing Cars", a deep dive into Formula 1’s evolution through the lens of this iconic brand. Stepping beyond my usual historical specialism, this piece required extensive research into motorsport history, engineering developments, safety developments and cultural context—skills I drew on to craft a richly detailed narrative. The article was also the subject of a dedicated podcast episode, where I discussed my research journey, key findings, and the broader significance of Ferrari’s legacy in Formula 1.
As the Event Day Co-ordinator and Social Media Strategist for the History with Jackson Podcast during the UK history festival circuit, I played a key role in shaping our on-the-ground presence and digital outreach. I managed real-time logistics, Podcast guest liaison, and content scheduling across multiple platforms and festivals, ensuring smooth operations and dynamic audience interaction. Alongside my event responsibilities, I crafted compelling daily blog posts that captured the energy and insights of each festival day, offering reflective round-ups and behind-the-scenes commentary that resonated with our growing online community.
As a member of the History with Jackson team, I have also submitted articles and Book reviews to be hosted on the History with Jackson Blog.

As part of the History with Jackson team, I authored daily round-up blog posts for the Katharine of Aragon Festival, Gloucester History Festival, and Chalke History Festival. These posts captured the essence of each day's events, from insightful talks and engaging performances to the vibrant atmosphere of the festivals. My writing aimed to make historical content accessible and engaging for a broad audience, providing readers with concise and lively summaries that reflected the unique character of each festival. This experience honed my ability to distil diverse historical topics into compelling narratives and brought interviews and talks from some of the top historians in the UK to a wider audience of people who may not have been able to attend themselves.
While writing my book Saint Olga of Kyiv: The Viking Queen, I became increasingly intrigued by the Christian influences embedded within the Prose Edda, as compiled by Snorri Sturluson. This curiosity led me to author an article for the History with Jackson blog, where I examined the Christian biases present in the Edda, particularly considering the context of 13th-century Iceland's Christianisation. Drawing upon scholarly analyses, I delved into how Christian ideology may have shaped the portrayal of Norse mythology within the text and, as a consequence, our modern conceptions. This allowed me to bridge my research on Eastern European history with a critical examination of Norse literary traditions, highlighting the complex interplay between pagan narratives and Christian reinterpretation.
As a book reviewer for History with Jackson, I focused on making historical literature approachable and engaging for a broad audience. My reviews aimed to distill complex historical narratives into clear, relatable insights, highlighting the relevance of each work to contemporary readers. By crafting concise and compelling summaries, I contributed to the platform's mission of delivering accessible and digestible history to the public. I have reviewed Soul by Soul, and Tudor Feminists under my own name and have Ghostwritten the review for The Killing Grounds.
